Human Rights & Labor Policy
Rainforest is committed to conducting business ethically and treating every person with dignity and respect.
- Lawful, voluntary employment. We prohibit forced labor, indentured labor, and human trafficking in any form. All employment is voluntary.
- No child labor. We comply with all applicable minimum-age and child-labor laws.
- Fair treatment and non-discrimination. We provide equal employment opportunity and do not tolerate discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
- Wages and hours. We comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and applicable wage-and-hour laws governing pay, overtime, and working hours.
- Respectful workplace. We maintain a workplace free of harassment, intimidation, and abuse, and we respect employees’ legal rights.
Health & Safety Policy
The safety of our employees, partners, and the communities we serve is a core operating priority.
- Regulatory compliance. We operate in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Warehouse safety. We maintain safe material-handling, equipment, and storage practices across our facilities, including training and certification for powered-equipment operators.
- Fleet and driver safety. As an owned-fleet operator, we maintain our vehicles and operate in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation and FMCSA requirements. Driver safety and training are central to our operations.
- Training and accountability. Employees receive role-appropriate safety training. We investigate incidents, track safety performance, and act to prevent recurrence.
- Continuous improvement. We review our safety practices regularly and update them as our operations and regulations evolve.
ESG & Sustainability
Our approach to environmental and social responsibility is grounded in how we actually operate: an owned warehouse network and delivery fleet, direct relationships with the brands we distribute, and a service model built to get the right product to the shelf with as little waste as possible.
Environmental practices
- Solar power. Approximately half of our facilities use on-site solar power to offset the energy demand of refrigeration.
- Owned and operated fleet. We run our own trucks rather than relying on third-party freight, which lets us plan efficient routes, consolidate deliveries, and reduce empty miles across our network.
- Waste reduction. Scan-based replenishment and demand planning help us match shipments to real sell-through, reducing overstock and food waste at the shelf.
- Reusable packaging. Where our brand partners offer returnable formats, such as glass-bottle dairy, we operate bottle and crate return programs that keep reusable materials in circulation.
